Question: Does the blade ever have to be sharpened?

Answer: Due to its unique design, the does not need to be razor sharp. However, if you would still like to sharpen it, you can use a metal file.

Question: Does it have a warranty?

Answer: This product has a 5 year warranty.

Question: Can it split a 16 inch length piece of wood ?

Answer: Even longer, especially for dry wood, but you turn it over if it doesn't "pop" apart, but the width is a problem with a lot of common size wood purchased from a firewood lot. You may have to split that once before inserting it into the kindling cracker (which, by definition, is for cracking kindling anyway).

Question: Would it split chunks of longs 5" in length?

Answer: 5" in length yes. Love my splitter. Epically with the wet wood this year.
